In September last year we undertook a recording with the ladies from "Boobs and Brass" smile cdand flugel soloist John Lee with the entire proceeds from the sale of these CDs being donated to the cancer charity Breast Cancer Campaign. The success of that CD can only be described as remarkable. (Click HERE for more details)

Taking part in that recording was Carol Jarvis, an international trombonist, who has now launched her own solo CD "Smile". Carol was diagnosed in 2004 with Hodkins Lymphoma but she continues her fight with the disease with pioneering treatment whilst maintaining her position as one of the finest instrumentalists.

The CD features a number of well known titles in addition to material written especially for the release, one additional highlight is the beautiful cover image, "Golden Girl" painted by the artist Rolf Harris in support of the project. Money raised from sales will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

It can beordered from Divine Art and is also available from Macmillan Cancer Support and for download on iTunes and Amazon.

Apparently one of our players, Helen Thurlby from Tideswell Band, went on holiday to Tenerife. Whilst there she met Valerie Richardson, a presenter on the local Tenerife Radio station www.powerfmradio.com

Val is now fully aware of Boobs and Brass and so it seems is Tenerife, its residents and some of its tourists. Val has bought the CD (one of the ten Helen sold in Los Gigantes Tenerife) and excerpts from the CD have been and still are played by Val, mainly between 3pm and 4 pm in the afternoons on the radio, along with explanations about the band!

Moral of the story - take some CDs on holiday with you!
