Jessica currently plays for Rushden Town Band, and was delighted when she was asked to join the girls at Boobs and Brass. She has been playing brass instruments since the age of 7, starting on the tenor horn following with the Baritone and Euphonium and somehow ending up on the Tuba! Jessica has also been a member of The Harborough Band and Harrogate Band, along with the Kew Youth Band in Australia whilst living there with her family. Jessica thoroughly loves being a member of Boobs and Brass and says 'I feel so privileged to be a part of something that is for such a great cause, and it’s so rewarding to know that we are hopefully making a difference for thousands of people. Joining Boobs and Brass is the best thing I’ve ever done!'

I learnt to play in 1995 at Loxley Silver band which is a training band where I had taken my son to learn to play cornet. On learning that I could read music and had an estate car they presented me with a BBb bass!
In 1999 I was asked to help City of Sheffield Band out for the 3rd section area contest. This was a revelation to me and the contesting bug had bitten.
After this I joined Oughtibridge where I was moved onto EEb bass. Since then I have played for Chapeltown Silver and Strata Brass, and am currently at Dodworth MW Colliery Band. I have also played with several orchestras and wind bands and now play for the Silver Spectrum wind band based in Sheffield
I first played for Boobs & Brass in Jan 2007 after replying to an appeal for a bass player on themouhpiece.com. Since then I have played for many of the concerts, one Whit Friday and the CD. I have played either BBb or EEb bass and really don’t mind which as long as I can have the privilege of playing with such a wonderful group of players for such a worthy cause.
I had breast cancer myself in 2004 so Boobs & Brass has an extra special meaning to me.

As a child I played the Cello but gave up when I went to University. Many years later my children started Brass lessons at school and joined Ratby Co-op training band. Approaching 40 and wanting a new challenge I taught myself to play Eb Bass and joined the children at Ratby where I changed to Bb Bass and took lessons for a while. Together we moved up through the Junior Band and into Mid-Band before the "children" moved on to pastures new. In October 2007 I was asked to play with Boobs & Brass at a concert in Kettering Parish Church and thoroughly enjoyed it, despite having to sight-read the whole programme.
I have joined them on many occasions since, it is always an honour to put on the pink jacket and very rewarding to read the latest " Total raised" on the website but I doubt if anything can beat playing in Huddersfield Town Hall alongside Brighouse & Rastrick.Ratby Co-operative Mid-Band Pat Youngprofile to follow
